Short answers to real questions.

How to use Nova today — no filler, no marketing. Not what you're looking for? Try the FAQ or email support@heynova.tech.

  • What Nova is (and isn't)

Nova is an AI home screen that notices what matters and drafts the next move. You approve.

Nova is not a chatbot. It watches signals you've allowed — an email you forwarded, a calendar you shared, a reminder you saved — and turns them into small cards with a clear next move. Every card is a draft. Nothing is sent, replied to, or scheduled until you tap approve. Free AI waits for prompts. Nova prepares. You approve.

  • Your first day with Nova

What to expect in the first hour, the first evening, and the first morning.

Sign up, install to your home screen, and add at least one signal — a forwarded email, an .ics calendar file, or a manual reminder. Within an hour Nova will surface its first card. That evening Nova prepares tomorrow's briefing. The next morning it appears at your local wake time. You don't need to prompt anything.

  • Add your first thing to watch

Three ways to give Nova something real to work with — no broker connection required.

Free tier: forward an email to your Nova address, upload a calendar .ics file, or type a reminder into Capture. Paid tiers unlock live broker connections (Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, WhatsApp via Unipile) for hands-off ingestion. Start with what you have — Nova gets more useful with each signal.

  • Approving, snoozing, dismissing

The three actions on every Nova card.

Approve executes the drafted next move (send the email, book the slot, create the reminder). Snooze re-shows the card at a chosen future time. Dismiss removes it and teaches Nova you don't want cards like this. All three are logged to an append-only audit trail you can view under Audit.

  • Why did Nova surface this?

Every card can show its reasoning, source, and confidence.

Tap "Why Nova surfaced this" on any card. Nova shows the source signal (which email, which calendar event, which memory), the deterministic rule or model score that lifted it, and how confident it is. If you disagree, dismiss — that shapes tomorrow's ranking.

  • Starter Bundle — the guided first setup

A one-time set of cards that walks you through Nova's core surfaces.

On first sign-in Nova drops a Starter Bundle on your home screen: connect a signal, approve a first card, review a briefing. These aren't sends — they're a guided tour so you learn the approval loop before Nova touches anything real.

  • What connections work today

Free tier is honest about which brokers are live and which are pending.

Available now on every tier: email forwarding, calendar .ics import, and manual capture. Live broker connections — Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, WhatsApp via Unipile — are gated to paid tiers. WhatsApp connection is live-probed; if the provider is warming up, the pill shows "Temporarily unavailable" rather than failing silently.

  • WhatsApp with Nova

WhatsApp is an approval surface, not an auto-replier.

Once connected (paid tiers), Nova can send you a briefing and approval prompts on WhatsApp. It never auto-replies to your contacts. You approve each send from your phone with a single tap.

  • When your morning briefing arrives

Timezone-aware, delivered at your local wake hour.

Nova reads your timezone from your profile and delivers the morning briefing at your local wake hour (default 07:00). The nightly job runs once and marks each user "briefed today" so a retry never double-sends. If you moved timezones, update your profile — Nova adjusts the next morning.

  • My briefing didn't arrive

The common causes and how to check.

First: check that your profile timezone is right. Second: check that at least one signal exists — a briefing with nothing to say won't be sent. Third: check /status for any active incident. If everything looks fine, ping support@heynova.tech with your local time and Nova will investigate the audit log.

  • What Nova remembers

Preferences, patterns, and the things you told it to keep.

Nova stores lightweight preferences (which cards you approve, which you dismiss, your typical hours) and explicit memories you save. Sensitive content is never stored verbatim — Nova stores the signal, not the message body. See /privacy for the full data-handling model.

  • Export your memory & cards

One-click JSON export of everything Nova learned about you.

Go to Memory → Export. Nova generates a JSON file with your preferences, saved memories, and card history. Deleting your account wipes the same set immediately — the rows go, your login is removed, and connected accounts are revoked. There is no 30-day queue.

  • Change or cancel your plan

    Two-tap cancel. No dark patterns.

Account → Billing → Change plan. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current period. Cancel any time — Nova keeps working until the end of the paid period, then reverts to Free Preview. See /terms §6 for the 14-day refund policy.

  • What's different between tiers

Free Preview vs Personal vs Plus vs Business, plainly.

Free Preview: manual capture, .ics import, email forwarding, approvals, and audit log. Personal: broker connections (Gmail, Calendar, WhatsApp), morning briefing, cross-source cards. Plus: more sources, deeper memory, priority support. Business: multiple team members, admin controls, invoice billing. See /pricing for the current price rows in your currency.

  • How Nova triages what arrives

Every item gets one of five categories: Needs you, Waiting, Money, FYI, Noise.

When something reaches Nova — a forwarded email or a manual capture — it gets exactly one category before you ever read it. Needs you: a reply or decision is required. Waiting: you're owed a response, delivery or payment. Money: invoices, renewals, anything with an amount. FYI: informational. Noise: newsletters and promos. Nova uses the model where it can and a deterministic fallback where it can't, so a category is always set. Tap the chip on any card in your inbox to recategorise it — your choice always wins and Nova remembers it for similar items. Filter the inbox by category using the chips at the top.

  • Capturing an invoice or quote

Forwarded email reads text only. Use Snap a document for the actual file.

Be aware of the honest limit: email forwarding delivers the message text to Nova, not the attached file. If a forwarded email mentions an attachment ("see attached invoice"), Nova creates a card asking you to add the amount and due date, so nothing is silently lost. To get the numbers read automatically, use "Snap a document" in your inbox: upload or photograph the invoice or quote and Nova extracts vendor, amount, due date and reference, then creates a Money card for you to check. Every extracted figure is shown with its confidence — check it before approving anything that pays or promises money.

  • A card I expected isn't showing

Where cards can quietly stall — and how to unstall them.

Nova needs a signal it can read. If you forwarded an email and no card appeared: check the forward reached your Nova address (your onboarding email lists it), and give the engine up to 15 minutes. If it still isn't there, the source may be behind a broker that hasn't been connected — check /permissions.

  • How Nova stays safe

Every external send needs an explicit approval event.

Nova's approval requirement is enforced in the database, not just the UI. An append-only audit table records every state change on every card. The engine physically cannot mark a card "sent" without a matching approval event for the same card ID. See /security for the full model.
